A friend asked me to make this video because unfortunately this is the only tactic that actually works here (and I am known for being a fearless public asshole). I dropped by his house after another desperate phone call and got an ear-full of this deafening nonsense, so I shot this iphone video on the spot. Yes, that is a decibel meter, the kind used to measure industrial sound pressure levels, and yes it is a bit odd to have such a thing but that is a different story. I don’t really understand why some elements of basic public decency dissolve in otherwise good people when they move to Costa RIca and I never will. What I do know is embarrassing them publicly seems to snap them back to reality. So, turn up the speakers good and loud and enjoy the sweet sounds of a wood planer. If you have a bitchin’ stereo you could even get close to the 96 db’s that his neighbors get to enjoy.
